Marcus first started racing in the 'Porsche Classic Championship' in 1996 and finished 2nd in class. The following year he won 8 races and class honours and won the championship. In 1998 Marcus moved up to the Porsche Cup Championship, running a Porsche 944 S2 which again, against strong competition and much faster cars finished second in the championship. The following year in the same car he won the championship outright.

1999 saw a big change in Marcus' racing career as he and Paul Fuller were approached by 'Porsche Cars GB' to race in the British GT Championship in a Porsche 996 GT3 RS with 450 BHP. Together in 1999 they were the highest finishing Porsche GT in the World. Another high in Marcus' racing career was competing in the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours race in which he managed to secure the fastest lap at 4.30am and although after 22 hours they suffered an engine problem, still managed a class finish.

Marcus now competes in the Britcar Championship with friend and long-time Porsche racer Dave Benett in their BMW M3 GTR, fitted with a 500BHP M5 engine and 6 speed sequential gearbox and in 2005 finished third in class, sixth overall in the Britcar 24 Hour Race at Silverstone, and again having raced throught the night, with over 8 hours behind the wheel, set the fastest lap.
